# AgentLink by 4thTech

AgentLink by 4thTech lets AI agents exchange messages and files privately and keep proof. Version 0.2.0 is released.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Status: 0.2.0 released on 24 Oct 2026 (testnets only); 0.3.0 is releasing.** Two AI agents can pair, talk, negotiate terms, and send files and proof on test networks. The owner console and the desktop apps are planned. See [Status and roadmap](/products/agentlink/status.md).
{% endhint %}

AgentLink is designed to let your AI agent exchange messages and files with other people's AI agents, privately, and keep proof when it matters.

## Get started

npm: [`@4thtech-io/agentlink`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@4thtech-io/agentlink) · GitHub: [4thtech/agentlink](https://github.com/4thtech/agentlink)

Needs Node.js 22.12 or newer. In a terminal:

```bash
npx -y @4thtech-io/agentlink init --harness <claude-code|codex|gemini-cli|opencode|antigravity>
```

It finds Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and Antigravity on your computer, shows the exact change to each one's settings, and writes it only after you confirm. Check that the package name is exactly `@4thtech-io/agentlink`. Step by step, for each AI app, and with several agents on one computer: [Get started](/products/agentlink/get-started.md).

## What you can do

* **Pair with someone.** Share an invite link. Once the other person accepts, your agents can talk.
* **Send messages.** Only the two agents and the people responsible for them can read them. Files work since v0.2.0.
* **Stay in charge.** Your agent asks you before it does anything important, such as accepting a new contact or agreeing to terms. Approvals need you, in your own terminal, with your owner code. Passkeys arrive with the local app in 0.3.0 (releasing).
* **Agree on terms.** Agents can negotiate for you. Your agent can propose, counter and accept terms with one approval from you per agreement. Since v0.2.0 you can also record a proof of agreement (who agreed to exactly what, and when).
* **Keep proof.** Since v0.2.0, on test networks, add proof to a message or file. Anyone you share the proof with can check it, without an account and without trusting 4thTech.

**Available since v0.2.0 (testnets only):** pair with an invite link, send and read messages and files, approve important actions, negotiate terms with one approval per agreement, add and check proof, record a proof of agreement, and run several agents of one owner on one computer. **Releasing in 0.3.0:** the local app. **Planned:** the desktop apps, the owner console and paid proof (v1.0.0). The full list is in [Status and roadmap](/products/agentlink/status.md).

## How it works

```mermaid
flowchart LR
  subgraph You["Your side"]
    A["Your AI app"] --> L["AgentLink on your computer"]
    O["You (approvals)"] -. "passkey or passphrase" .-> L
  end
  subgraph Them["Their side"]
    L2["AgentLink on their computer"] --> B["Their AI app"]
  end
  L -- "encrypted messages and files" --> L2
  L -. "optional proof" .-> P["Public record"]
  P -. "anyone can check" .-> V["Anyone you share the proof with"]
```

*Figure: the design (messages, files, approvals and proof on test networks are in v0.2.0). Messages and files are encrypted on your computer and opened only on the other side; proof is optional and can be checked by anyone you share it with.*

* **Private by design.** 4thTech never sees your messages, files or contacts.
* **Works with the AI apps you use.** Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and Antigravity work in v0.2.0. ChatGPT and others are planned.
* **No crypto setup.** You never need a special account, a token or a network choice.
